Charleville and District Rugby Football Club’s Current Developments
If your post covid cobwebs still have not been completely blown off, and if you are looking for a new interest, hobby or club, then Charleville Rugby Club has everything you could ask for and more. Founded in 1926, the club has long been a place where people of all ages and sporting ability can come together and get involved. Through the dedication and commitment of its members since then, there have been many changes and developments, all to the benefit of the club and the town. In 1983, the club purchased the current seven and a half acre grounds. It has come a long way since then, having been transformed by the addition of a club house offering better amenities and the development of the pitches to their current standard. The club is proud of the general upkeep of the playing pitches with equipment and groundworks, down to the railings installed to facilitate local advertising and sponsorship. In recent years, the club boasts the addition of a third playing pitch, which has increased the playing area for its members, and upgraded to LED lights, allowing safe training in the evenings for all age groups. The emphasis on safety continued with the installation of netting behind the goal posts to ensure the safe retrieval of balls, preventing the underage members in particular having to climb into ditches to find them! With a qualified training and physio available to the players, the club is a great place for people to develop rugby skills under the appropriate supervision of professionals. The Split the Bucket initiative has become a popular local fundraiser for the club and is proving very lucrative for the people who support it, with a guaranteed winner each week.
