U11 had a blitz hosted by Newcastle West RFC this morning.

The forecast rain and wind didn’t materialise and it made for a trrrific morning of rugby.

We got into our warm up passing tackling, one tackle turnover and with the day that’s in it “stromash”.

Just hit the right balance of well warmed up and enough energy to hit the ground running in the first match with Abbyfeale, Newcastle West and Garryowen. Excellent go forward rugby ensued with fast hands and good support play the order of the day.

Each match with early traded tries, but Charleville sticking to the game plan of moving the ball quickly away from the contact to keep the moves going into space yielded two to three unanswered scores in purple patches to contribute to their three wins from three.

Defence played no small part in their victories, with crucial last ditch tackles and using the touch line as an extra defender on a number of occasions.

The turnover on their own line was a stand out moment, demonstrating a ‘never say die’ attitude synonymous with their province.

We had warm and friendly hospitality from Newcastle West and all matches played in an excellent spirit by all.
