Our u11s and u12s travelled to Clanwilliam RFC this morning to take on the mighty kids from Tipp Town. 22 kids turned up for Charleville & District RFC to make two games of it, in cold and chilly conditions. The cold was quickly forgotten as George Dundon put the lads through their paces in an intense and fun warmup before KO.
What transpired was two great games of heads up lung bursting, end to end Rugby with deft passing and evasion skill on show and some almighty defence.
A few big hits and stray high tackles by both sides were taken and given in the best of spirits with both clubs displaying what rugby should be about at this age, having fun, making mistakes, putting the hand up when you do and respecting your opponents. End to end play had the middle aged referees struggling to keep up resulting in one or two fairly dodgy decisions from afar.
Many thanks to our hosts Clanwilliam for the games and the hospitality afterwards. The hot cup of tea/coffee was badly needed after a morning in the bright but chilly conditions.
A huge thanks to the parents that travelled this morning, it was great to have big numbers in what is a very talented bunch of players.
